1 can petite diced tomatoes, or 1-2 fresh tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 TBS diced onion,
2-3 sliced green onions with tops
1 TBS fresh cilantro, or parsley, coarsley chopped
pinch of oregano
2 tsp red wine vinegar
1 small can chopped green chilies
1-2 fresh or canned jalapenos, minced (omit for mild sauce)

Blend half the tomato in blender or food processor, and place in small serving bowl. Dice the remaining half tomato and add to next 5 ingredients. Add the minced jalapeno slowly, tasting occasionally until it is as hot as you like it. Add salt and pepper if desired. Serve with tortilla chips. (Play around with the ingredients to find what you like. Instead of jalapenos, the hotter green chilies can be used.)
