I have always served french toast with cinnamon/sugar topping. It tastes almost like a donut, mmm...no syrup on these please. If the kids are in a hurry to get out the door, this is what I do. After cooking, I sprinkle on cin/sug mix, then roll it up. I put a paper towel around it & hand it to them as they are walking out the door.
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
dash or two of salt
1 loaf Texas Toast (thick sliced bread)
Topping:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2-1 tsp. cinnamon
(I didn't need to make any up this morning, so these measurements are approximate.)
Mix the eggs together in a bowl. Add milk, vanilla, & salt. Mix well. Pour into a shallow dish, such as a pie plate. Dip bread in mixture and cook on buttered or oiled gridle or pan on Med/high heat. (375 degrees in electric skillet.) Lightly brown each side. This recipe is easily doubled.
