Kitchen Tip Tuesday

If you've ever had a child choke on celery because of the strings, you'll enjoy this tip. Sometimes the outer stalks on celery are tough to chew. To make it more delicate and easy for a young child to eat, here is a simple way to remove them.

Using a sharp knife, cut into the back of edge of the stalk.

Pull back on the piece, revealing the strings.

Continue pulling to remove them completely. Sometimes it is necessary to go completely around the top edge of the stalk to get them all.

You end up with a pretty edge and a soft-to-chew celery stick.

Great tip! I also saw someone peel celery the other day. Had never heard that but they said it makes it much more tender.

This is really a great tip for anyone who has small children around with celery. I was a director of a daycare for several years and I found that even a couple of hours after a snack or lunch with celery, some of our young kids were still chewing the strings! They were using it like gum. Some even had it after taking a nap, ohhhhh I know God was blessing them and keeping them from choking.

So thanks for the awesome tip!!!
